On Sunday 5th August 2012 The Music Circle will be jumping on their bikes and cycling to Oxford from London to raise money in support of an Oxfam project protecting women from abuse in the DRC. The ride is 60 miles and will take approximately approx. 6/7 hours with a lunch stop. We will be starting at 8am, leaving from Walpole Park in Ealing, we first visit Fulmer and Burnham Beeches before stopping for lunch by the river at Marlow. The route then heads up into the Chiltern Hills and across Christmas Common to Chalgrove on the way to the finish at Oxfam’s HQ in Oxford.
There is a £10 entry fee and we are looking for everybody to reach a sponsorship target of £200. If you’re up for the challenge then please email emily (at) anoraklondon.com but be quick as there are only 50 places!
The seemingly unstoppable Lianne La Havas released her new video for ‘Is Your Love Big Enough’ yesterday. It’s good to see that despite being very busy she’s still having a good time. Take a look above, and if you’ve been at any of her shows recently maybe you can even spot yourself?
If you’re yet to see her live she’s playing a host of major UK and European festivals this summer including Bestival, The Apple Cart, Underage Festival and Latitude along with headlining two dates at The Village Underground one of which has already sold out.
We’d like to say a giant ‘thank you’ to everyone who helped out, ate and donated at our bake sale yesterday. We managed to raise around £200 for the women of the troubled DRC, which is fantastic. All of this helps us get a little closer to our target of £50,000.
If you missed out on the treats you can still donate on our Just Giving page HERE but we’re currently organising a charity bike ride as our next event so keep your eyes peeled for more news on this.
Kicking off this week (and very conveniently in our neck of the woods) is Digital Shoreditch Festival. This event looks to celebrate as well as investigate digital culture and practices. The first one (last year) had over 2,000 attendees and it’s good to see this number set to grow.
If you’re already going down, there will be a few Anoraks milling around, so come say hello.
