Amateur Best, the new music and comic based project from Joe Flory (previously know as Primary 1), has its first single release set for October 1st. ‘Ready For The Good Life’ follows (as do the comics) the life story of James Best: latent alcoholic and lifelong amateur.

You can view the comics on Fader right now HERE or listen to the new song HERE.

This week’s Friday Playlist is an ode to one of our favourite festivals. Unfortunately we can’t all be there so we’re recreating the mood in the office with some good looking people, air conditioning, vikings and this mix tape.

Channel 4 has announced the final batch of DJs taking part in their one off ‘House Party’ television event. In an unprecedented live television project, Channel 4 is to hand over creative control to six world-class DJs, including Grandmaster Flash, A Trak, Erick Morillo, Soul II Soul, Horse Meat Disco and Annie Mac with Charlie Sloth acting asMaster of Ceremonies. Additionally, on the same night, Idris Elba returns to count down the defining moments of the greatest cultural phenomenon of our generation in a two-hour film, ‘How Clubbing Changed the World’.

Alongside the DJs (and VJs), the booth will also include a brand new third element of the clubbing experience: Social Media Controllers, who will provide a live and super-reactive link between the audience and the booth. Just like at any other nightclub or house party, people on the dance floor in their homes around the UK will be able to shout out their requests, chat to each other, salute a genius selection (or boo a dud) through the many social media sites hooked up to the booth online and via the ‘House Party’ website.

Get your house party proof for the night of Friday 24th August when the event starts at midnight, going on until 6 am.

This week’s playlist is unavoidably Olympic themed. Pulp, Daft Punk and Kraftwerk all feature in some quite loose references to the games, but rest assured the songs are (mostly) good.
